WATCH THE VIDEO HERE MTV Cribs was one of the hottest reality shows of the 1990s, but according to Nelly, after appearing on the show, he was forced to sell his multi-million dollar home. “I sold it. I had to get rid of it. That was the worst thing I did being on MTV Cribs because [people figured out where I lived]. When we did it, I’m thinking this is my end-all, be-all. I’m not knowing that we’re just getting started as a group and we were gonna keep having success and things like that,” the rapper said to J. Cruz Show on Real 92.3.
Nelly said fans started to pull up at his lakefront home in St. Louis, which upset his mother, who was living with him at the time.
He continued: “So when I did it, there was no gate on the house, and people were pulling their boats up to the dock. My mom is out by the pool, and a muthaf–ka will pull their boat up to the dock, walk up the dock, and y’all don’t know my mom, but my mom is off the chain. So yeah, I had to…we moved, we got gates and s–t after that.” MTV Cribs originally aired from 2000 to 2010 and was rebooted in 2021.
