Netflix has canceled the Vince Staples Show after two seasons. The decision follows a sharp drop in viewership for the second season, which debuted last November and struggled to match the momentum of the show’s 2024 launch.
Inspired by Donald Glover’s Atlanta, the series starred Vince Staples as a heightened version of himself, navigating absurd, sometimes dark situations in Long Beach.
Season one arrived and pulled in an impressive 4.6 million views over several months. By contrast, Deadline reports season two landed far lower on Netflix’s internal rankings, earning about 1.7 million views through the end of 2025.
The show ran for 11 episodes total and featured guest appearances from Rick Ross, Naté Jones, and Arturo Castro, with Vanessa Bell Calloway and Andrea Ellsworth in recurring roles.
Despite the cancellation, Staples remains active creatively. His most recent album, Dark Times, arrived in 2024, following Ramona Park Broke My Heart, which earned critical praise.
The show was initially only supposed to be a one-season, limited series, but was revived after fans rallied behind Staples.
“Absolutely we would love to continue, if possible,” he told Variety back in 2024.
“What we’ve done has been singular and unique. I haven’t seen anything play with so many different ideas. It’s a commentary on the world around us and how we deal with certain things, and as long as there’s more life to live, you can always adopt that format.”
