The invincible Iron Man is getting ready for a brand-new Marvel Comics series and this one will have huge ramifications for Tony Stark’s future. This year’s New York Comic Con has given fans a lot to look forward to and next year, the infamous tech-based hero returns with a title that could change the Iron Man legacy forever.
During Marvel Comics “Next Big Thing” panel at New York Comic Con, Marvel Comics hit fans with a major revelation. Next year Joshua Williamson (Superman, G.I. Joe) and Carmen Carnero (The Amazing Spider-Man, Exceptional X-Men) will be headlining a new Iron Man series, set to debut in January of next year, which Marvel Comics released a preview of.
Iron Man is looking to shape his legacy, but his old foe, Madame Masque is steps ahead of him. She and Advanced Idea Mechanics are already looking for the next Tony Stark-level genius, with plans to weaponize him. As the preview shows, Masque dispatches one unworthy genius, with no plans to stop until she finds a true Iron Man successor.
Iron Man Returns with New Series Next Year

As a mainstay of the Marvel Universe, Iron Man is never gone for long. Tony got a new start just last year with a series by Spencer Ackerman and Julius Ohta. However, the most recent Iron Man title ended over the summer as part of the One World Under Doom crossover, that put Stark in the crosshairs of Emperor Doom.
But with Doom gone, now Tony has the chance to think about the future once more. This series will put a great emphasis on legacy. Tony isn’t just concerned with what he’s leaving behind, but who is going to rise up and be the new ‘him’. And if Iron Man’s not careful, Madame Masque and AIM will corrupt the genius-in-waiting.
Iron Man is Going to Have to Find and Nurture a New Legacy
Or Else Masque Will Own the Future of the Marvel Universe
There are plenty of geniuses in the Marvel Universe, but only a few on par with Tony Stark. Tony’s not going to be around forever though, and he could best serve the world by finding whoever is destined to replace him. If that wasn’t a concern of his before, it had better be now, because AIM wants a Stark-level genius.
Masque and AIM won’t stop until they find the next ‘Tony Stark’ and to save the future, Tony’s going to have to find them first and nurture a mind that can take the Marvel Universe into a more prosperous era. Otherwise, Iron Man’s only legacy will be one of failure if his enemies find the next Tony first.
