The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has disclosed that the tension sparked by Victor Osimhen’s confrontation with some teammates during the clash against Mozambique has been settled.
Dayo Enebi, Super Eagles team administrator, explained that the disagreement was resolved “a couple of hours later” after the encounter.
The Super Eagles progressed to the quarter-final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after a 4–0 triumph over Mozambique on Monday.
Victor Osimhen contributed two goals, while Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams added one each to secure the emphatic win.
However, the victory was overshadowed by a heated scene in the second half when Osimhen furiously lashed out at Lookman and a few teammates, forcing others to intervene.
Still visibly angry, the Galatasaray forward gestured for substitution and was replaced by Moses Simon.
At full time, he headed directly to the tunnel, avoiding post-match rituals such as handshakes and team prayers.
He also became the first Nigerian player to leave for the team bus after the game.
The development has triggered reactions among Nigerians, with many expressing unease about unity within the camp.
Dayo Enebi maintained that there is “no problem” within the team, insisting the incident was simply “between two brothers” and stressing that the squad is “presently at training”.
He further noted that Akor Adams received clearance to visit his hospitalised mother in Fes, Morocco, and has since reunited with the squad.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to play either Algeria or the Democratic Republic of Congo in the quarter-final on January 10.
