NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML), a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, has signed a Joint Venture agreement with Zuid Energies Limited for the development of critical gas infrastructure in Ajaokuta, Kogi State.
The agreement, which was formalised on Friday during the Mobility-CNG Stakeholders’ Workshop in Abuja, will see the establishment of a 6 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) plant and a 40 MMSCFD Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility.
The partnership forms part of NGML’s strategic drive to expand gas marketing and distribution across the country. It also underscores the company’s commitment to leveraging private sector collaboration to deploy innovative Virtual Pipeline Solutions that will enhance gas supply to off-grid and underserved areas.
In remarks delivered at the event, NGML management reaffirmed the company’s dedication to supporting the national energy transition by deepening domestic gas utilisation and promoting cleaner fuel alternatives through sustainable investments.
The workshop, themed “Deepening Industry Alignment for a Sustainable Mobility-CNG Sub-Sector,” brought together key stakeholders, including regulators and operators across the downstream gas value chain, to explore opportunities within the Presidential CNG Initiative.
Discussions at the forum focused on commercial prospects, regulatory frameworks, and technical solutions required to support the growth of CNG usage for transportation and industrial applications.
The Presidential CNG Initiative is a flagship programme of the Federal Government aimed at promoting natural gas as a cost-effective, low-emission fuel alternative to petrol and diesel.
