Nicki Minaj hopped on social media and threatened to walk away from music after allegedly being targeted by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.

“Ok I’m not going to put out the album anymore. No more music. Hope you’re happy now  @sc Bye, Barbz. Love you for life,” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Earlier in the day, the rapper shared a series of posts criticizing the Jay-Z–founded company. Minaj claimed the firm had tried and failed to sign her, mocked it as “cock nation,” and even suggested, in part, that the death of D’Angelo, announced by his family yesterday, was, inexplicably, part of a face-saving campaign by Roc Nation.

Fans believe Minaj’s anger may stem from Tidal, the streaming service launched by Jay-Z in 2015. Minaj is reportedly claiming she’s owed between $100 million and $200 million related to her stake in the company, which was sold to Jack Dorsey’s Square in 2021 for $297 million.

Earlier this month, she took direct aim at CEO Desiree Perez, writing, “Desiree Perez, your time is up.” Perez, who has long been part of Jay-Z’s inner circle, received a pardon from President Trump in 2021 for decades-old drug charges.

Neither Roc Nation nor Perez has commented publicly on Minaj’s latest allegations.
