The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), in collaboration with the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, will organise a virtual interactive session titled “Impact of the New Tax Reform Laws on Nigerians in the Diaspora.”

The Chairman/CEO of NiDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, said the dialogue indicates the Federal Government’s commitment to inclusivity and transparency in policy implementation.

The session, scheduled to hold on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. (Nigeria Time), aims to enlighten Nigerians living in the diaspora on the implications of the recently enacted tax laws.

It will also provide an open platform to clarify issues and address grey areas concerning compliance and obligations.

Dabiri-Erewa also explained that as key contributors to national development, it is essential for Nigerians in the diaspora to be fully informed about the new tax framework and its potential implications for their economic activities.

The session will feature experts from the Presidential Committee and relevant agencies who will provide practical insights and answer participants’ questions.

Meanwhile NIDCOM has congratulated Captain Kelechi Ndukwe, a Nigerian-American officer, on his promotion to Commander of Destroyer Squadron 60 and Task Force 65 of the United States Navy, based in Rota, Spain.

The commission revealed this in a statement signed by Gabriel Odu from the Media, Public Relations and Protocols unit.

Naijaonpoint reports that the announcement came on September 26, 2025, in Abuja, with the Commission saying that Ndukwe will now oversee U.S. Navy destroyer operations across Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean.

His new role reflects years of service and leadership in international naval operations.

Ndukwe first made history in April 2021 when he became the first Nigerian-American to command a U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyer, the USS Halsey (DDG-97).

His journey from being the son of Nigerian immigrants to rising into the top ranks of the U.S. Navy has been described as a story of dedication, discipline, and excellence.
