Nigeria is becoming a better country that everyone admires since President Bola Tinubu came into office in 2023, the Senate President Godswill Akpabio has claimed.
Akpabio made this claim while speaking at an event organised by the Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Abubakar Sulaiman in Abuja.
According to the Senate President, Nigeria under the leadership of President Tinubu is on a steady path to unprecedented growth and making its mark in the global space.
Commending the institute and its leadership for their contribution to the nation’s democratic space, Akpabio restated the National Assembly’s committment to national progress.
He also said the legislature is big on improving frameworks that could bring about the desired transformation in Nigeria’s governance system.
The Senate President noted that the National Assembly has embarked on the process of a constitutional review that is aimed at strengthening democratic institutions and promoting good governance across all levels of government.
His words, “Nigeria is becoming a better country for prosperity under President Tinubu. The National Assembly will continue to support reforms that enhance growth, unity, and stability.”
In his address, Sulaiman said he was convinced that with Senate President’s capacity as an agent of change in Nigeria’s governance system.
He also allayed possible fear over Akpabio’s role in strengthening the legislative and democratic principles of the country through intensive capacity building and institutional reforms.
In addition, Sulaiman said NILDS under his leadership has since taken steps towards evolving into a global institute that is now known for the exchange of ideas and knowledge on legislation, democracy, and good governance.
He stated that the institute has served as a hub for research, sharing of knowledge and lessons learnt through policy innovation, and international collaboration.
