Eintracht Frankfurt have entered talks with Club Brugge over a move for Nigeria international Raphael Onyedika, with the Bundesliga side pushing to strengthen their midfield before the transfer deadline, Footynaija.com reports.

Sky Sports reports confirmed that initial discussions have already taken place, with negotiations set to continue after Frankfurt’s league meeting with Hoffenheim this weekend.

Frankfurt are exploring a loan deal with an obligation to buy, though progress remains complicated. Brugge are reluctant to sanction the midfielder’s exit at this stage of the window, particularly given his importance to their squad.

The 24-year-old has been central to Brugge’s success since joining from FC Midtjylland in 2022. He has racked up 89 appearances in two seasons, guiding the club to the Belgian Pro League title in 2023-24 and lifting the Belgian Cup last campaign — their first in ten years.

Onyedika’s consistency has made him one of the standout midfielders in Belgium, featuring 52 times last season alone across domestic and European competitions. His ball-winning ability and press resistance have attracted suitors across Europe, with Frankfurt viewing him as a priority signing.

The German side are, however, keeping alternative targets on their shortlist should a deal collapse. For now, Onyedika remains the focus of their efforts, though Brugge’s stance signals a tough negotiation ahead.
Onyedika would love his future decided before he joins the Super Eagles ahead of Nigeria’s World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa in September.
