Nigeria Caps Power Supply to Benin Republic, Two Others at 6%

By Adedapo Adesanya Nigeria has capped power supply to cross-border customers in the Benin Republic, Niger, and Togo at six per cent. This was carried out by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) through a department within the Transmission Company of Nigeria, the System Operator (SO), effective from May 1, 2024, jointly signed by the commission’s Chairman, Mr Sanusi Garba, and Vice Chairman, Mr Musiliu Oseni. The directive, outlined in a document titled ‘Interim Order on Transmission System Dispatch Operations, Cross-border Supply, and Related Matters,’ will be in effect for six months, subject to review.
