Nigeria Food Summit holds in Lagos

The second edition of the Nigeria Food Summit will take place in Lagos on Friday (today).

In a statement on Thursday, the event led by renowned culinary expert Gbolabo Adebakin (aka Chef Gibbs) under the theme ‘Making Nigeria a Global Food Destination’ aims to elevate the country’s food sector to international recognition.

The summit will bring together farmers, chefs, food tech innovators, and industry leaders to drive collaboration and strengthen Nigeria’s food value chain.

Chef Gibbs emphasised the summit’s role in positioning Nigeria as a leading culinary hub, saying, “We have a unique and diverse food culture that deserves global recognition. Through the Nigeria Food Summit, we are creating a platform that connects every player in the food ecosystem—from farmers to culinary professionals—to drive innovation, sustainability, and economic expansion,” he said.

The summit will feature expert-led discussions on key industry topics. Additionally, a dedicated exhibition zone will serve as a marketplace for food tech startups, agricultural suppliers, and culinary service providers. A business clinic will offer free consultation services on finance, branding, HR, legal, and tax advisory for food entrepreneurs.

One of the highlights of the event is the Pitch-a-Tonne competition, where emerging food business owners will have the opportunity to secure grants, mentorship, and investment to scale up their ventures.

Another standout feature is the culinary museum, which will explore the history of Nigerian cuisine, culinary artefacts, and regional food traditions. A live farm exhibit will also be showcased, providing insights into sustainable agricultural practices and the farm-to-table model.
