Rauf Aregbesola, National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Osun State Governor, has declared a bold new vision for Nigeria’s political future, rallying supporters to reject the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement posted on X, on Saturday, Aregbesola criticized the APC’s governance and urged Nigerians to join the ADC’s movement to “rescue” the nation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at a coalition meeting in Lagos, Aregbesola welcomed defectors from the APC, PDP, and Labour Party, emphasizing the ADC’s commitment to youth and women’s leadership.

“I am happy that some of us have emerged from the ashes of the ruins of APC and PDP to chart a new and different course for the nation,” Aregbesola said on X, adding, “It is a long journey, however, we have taken the first step in the right direction.”

His remarks signal a growing momentum for the ADC as a third force in Nigeria’s polarized political landscape.

Aregbesola, who was expelled from the APC in January 2025 for alleged anti-party activities, sharply criticized the ruling party’s leadership.

“APC is demonstrating the Samson Complex by trying to pull down the nation on its head as its last act of political savagery,” he declared, accusing the government of neglecting the suffering of Nigerians.

“Nigeria is bleeding and the people are groaning. But the APC government is feasting,” he added.

The former Minister of Interior highlighted the ADC’s inclusive agenda, noting that the party’s constitution guarantees 50% of elective and appointive positions for youth and women.
