Nigeria National Grid Confirms Blackout, Says It’s Grid Disturbance

The Nigerian National Grid on Friday confirmed a power outage affecting electricity supply in the country.

Explaining the reason behind the power outage, the body explained in a post via its 𝕏 account that what happened is a ‘grid disturbance.’

It also added that restoration is already in progress.

According to information made available to Naijaonpoint on its platform, only the Ibadan Distribution Company had 20 megawatts of electricity as at 1:20pm.

The collapse which happened earlier on Friday, is the first National Grid collapse for the year 2026.
