The Nigeria Police Force has secured a two-year seat on the Interpol Africa Committee following the election of Olubode Ojajuni, commissioner of police, at the 27th African regional conference in Cape Town, South Africa.
Ojajuni’s victory earned Nigeria the fifth seat on the committee after a keenly contested election.
The Interpol Africa Committee advises the regional conference on its mandate, facilitates its sessions, and identifies strategic crime priorities.
It also strengthens police cooperation across borders, advances best practices, and develops projects to enhance regional and continental security.
The Nigeria Police said the achievement underscores the country’s growing influence in global law enforcement, particularly in the fight against transnational crime, terrorism, and other emerging threats.
IGP Kayode Egbetokun congratulated Ojajuni on the win and pledged the force’s commitment to professionalism, integrity, and international cooperation.
Egbetokun also said the Nigeria Police would continue to actively engage with global partners to promote peace and security worldwide.
