Nigeria international forward Gift Monday has been named the Liga F Player of the Month for February after a series of outstanding performances for UDG Tenerife in Spain’s top-flight women’s league, Footynaija.com reports.

To clinch the prestigious accolade, the exciting Super Falcons star edged out top contenders, including Barcelona’s Caroline Graham Hansen, Real Madrid’s Alba Redondo, Athletic Bilbao’s Ane Azkona, and Granada’s Ari Mingueza.

At 23, Monday becomes only the third Nigerian to win the award, following Rasheedat Ajibade’s historic triumph in September 2024 and Edna Imade who won it in December.

She received the honour during a Tenerife training session, with her teammates joining in the celebrations.

Liga F is delighted to announce Gift Monday as February’s Player of the Month in EA Sports FC,” the league confirmed in a statement on X.

Monday has been instrumental for Tenerife this season, scoring 10 goals in 18 matches and playing a pivotal role in lifting her side to sixth in the standings. She currently sits third in the Liga F goal-scoring charts, trailing Barcelona’s Ewa Pajor by five goals and Edna Imade by two.

This season is Monday’s most prolific campaign since moving to Spain in 2022 from FC Robo. She enjoyed a remarkable streak, scoring in six consecutive games before a recent minor dip in form.

Her performances have earned her an extended stay at Tenerife, with the club recently tying her down to a new contract until 2027.

With her confidence soaring, Monday will be aiming to continue her fine form as Tenerife pushes for a strong finish in Liga F.
