THE Nigerian Army has begun accepting applications for the 29/2026 Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC), calling on suitably qualified Nigerians to apply for officer commissions.
The announcement was made via a statement shared on the Nigerian Army’s official X (formerly Twitter) account today.
According to the statement, the DSSC is open to both civilians and serving military personnel who possess relevant professional qualifications.
Candidates who are successful will be commissioned into specialised units of the Nigerian Army, where their expertise will contribute to national defence and security operations.
The available corps include the Nigerian Army Engineers, Nigerian Army Signals, Nigerian Army Medical Corps, Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and the Nigerian Army Education Corps.
The Army clarified that the application process is free and strictly online.
The recruitment portal will be open from January 7 to February 4, 2026, and applicants are advised to submit their applications early while ensuring that all required details are accurately provided.
