The Nigerian Army has moved its Special Forces Training School from Buni Yadi in Yobe State to Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Naijaonpoint reports that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, announced the relocation during the foundation-laying ceremony and inauguration of new projects at the 4 Special Forces Command, Doma.
Oluyede said the move was designed to provide a more suitable setting for preparing the elite unit for complex security challenges.
“The decision to relocate the school is aimed at providing a much more ideal environment for the training of our special forces and equip them with the requisite skills and competencies needed for the peculiar nature of their missions,” he stated.
He expressed optimism that the new location would soon become a “beacon of excellence and professionalism” within the Nigerian Army, inspiring future generations of elite soldiers.
The COAS said his administration remains committed to giving special forces the highest quality training to compete favourably with their counterparts globally.
“It is envisioned that the training provided here will prepare our warriors for today’s dynamic and evolving security threats. My visit is not just to lay the foundation for new structures, but to lay the groundwork for a legacy of excellence, bravery and sacrifice,” Oluyede said.
He stressed that investment in the school is an investment in the security and prosperity of Nigeria.
Addressing personnel, Oluyede urged professionalism, diligence and commitment, describing them as ‘indomitable warriors’.
“Remember that you are the unconquerable and thus nothing should stand in your path to victory. Nothing should deter you from doing your duty, nothing should shake your will to fight, and the only time you take a rest is when the job is done,” he said.
The COAS also pledged to continually prioritise the welfare of personnel and their families to stimulate optimal performance, while appreciating President Bola Tinubu and Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, for their support in the fight against insecurity.
In his remarks, Commander of the 4 Special Forces, Maj.-Gen. Hilary Nzan, hailed the COAS for his foresight in motivating troops and enhancing operational capacity.
He described the establishment of the training school in Doma as a milestone that would “enhance training, boost morale and create an enabling environment for optimal performance.”
“As the direct beneficiaries of the school, we have taken ownership and will use it responsibly with dedication to achieve the desired results,” Nzan added.
