A young Nigerian artist has made headlines after completing a remarkable 168-hour painting marathon in a bid to break the Guinness World Record for the longest painting session by an individual.
The ambitious feat, which began on July 21 and concluded at exactly 1:50 a.m. today, July 28, took place in Bonny Island, Rivers State.
Originally aiming for 150 hours, the visual artist—popularly known as Holiveah—surpassed her goal in a striking show of endurance and commitment.
The marathon attracted widespread attention from art enthusiasts, cultural advocates, and supporters across Nigeria and beyond, all of whom gathered to celebrate her creative journey and resilience.
In an interview with newsmen, Holiveah shared the deeper motivation behind her effort:
“This wasn’t just about setting a record. It was about demonstrating how creativity, consistency, and courage can elevate African women on a global stage,” she said.
Throughout the week-long event, her artwork showcased themes of hope, African pride, resilience, and youth empowerment—offering a vibrant cultural narrative rooted in Nigeria’s heritage. \
The paint-a-thon also served as a catalyst for local tourism and positioned Bonny Island as a potential hub for creativity and cultural investment.
Supporters described her achievement as a symbol of collective inspiration. “It’s more than a record—this is a movement celebrating art, hope, and African excellence,” one attendee noted.
Holiveah’s record attempt is now pending official verification by Guinness World Records.
