RENOWNED businessman and chairman of the Ibru Organisation, Olorogun Oskar Ibru, has passed away at the age of 67.
His family confirmed the news to journalists in a statement today.
The statement revealed that he died after a brief illness, though no further details were provided.
Oskar Ibru, one of the most prominent heirs of the influential Ibru dynasty, played a pivotal role in sustaining and expanding the business empire founded by his late father, Olorogun Michael Ibru.
The Ibru Organisation, established decades ago, has interests spanning shipping, oil and gas, real estate, and commerce.
His death comes less than 10 years after the passing of the family patriarch in 2016. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days.
Tributes have already begun to pour in. Media mogul and Ovation International publisher, Dele Momodu, described Ibru as “an extremely friendly gentleman and a socialite per excellence.”
In a tribute shared on Instagram, Momodu wrote:
“News has just reached me in the skies that one of Nigeria’s most recognisable businessmen, OLOROGUN OSKAR IBRU, has passed on… He was an extremely friendly gentleman and a socialite per excellence, who was loved so passionately by families and friends. He was the son of the business titan, OLOROGUN MICHAEL IBRU. Rest in peace, dear Brother.”
Ibru’s passing marks the end of an era for one of Nigeria’s most prominent business families, whose legacy has shaped the country’s corporate and social landscape for decades.
