The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Africa Region has elected its first Nigerian Chair, Dr. Opeyemi Adeyemi, to lead its Executive Board for the 2025-2026 term. The election was held during the Region’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 25, 2025, with members from across the continent participating virtually.
Dr. Adeyemi, a distinguished communications scholar and practitioner with over two decades of experience, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role. He has previously served as Vice Chair for the Region and Director for West Africa, contributing significantly to capacity-building and membership growth across Africa.
A highly accomplished professional, Dr. Adeyemi holds a Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and has earned various global certifications, including Strategic Communication Management Professional (SCMP) and Project Management Professional (PMP). He is also a Fellow of several prestigious institutions, including the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
Dr. Adeyemi’s appointment is a testament to his dedication and commitment to the field of communication, and his leadership is expected to drive growth and excellence in the IABC Africa Region. The new Executive Board, comprising renowned communication professionals from across the continent, will work together to advance the interests of IABC members and promote best practices in business communication.
