The domestic equities market depreciated by N2.8 trillion in four days as investors continue to take profit in highly capitalised companies quoted on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX).
The equities market capitalisation of over 150 companies closed trading on Thursday at N88.784 trillion, about N2.8trillion down from N91.561trilliion it closed for trading on Monday.
Also, the NGX All-Share Index dipped by 1,233.87 basis points or 0.87 per cent to close at 140,332.44 basis points from 141,566.31 basis points the equities market closed for trading early in the week.
On market outlook, Capital market analysts at Afrinvest Limited said, “we expect the bearish performance to persist due to profit taking activities.”
The equities market as of August 21, 2025 has appreciiated by N26.02 trillion in its Year-till-Date returns from N62.763 trillion it opened for trading in 2025.
