Naijaonpoint looks at the top happenings making headlines on the front pages of Nigeria’s national newspapers today Friday, 27th December 2024.

The PUNCH: The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has warned civilians harbouring suspected criminals to desist from such acts or face the consequences of their actions. He stated this during his visit to the troops of Operation FASAN YANMA at 8 Division Headquarters in Sokoto. The CDS said this in response to the Christmas day bombing of civilians in two communities in the Silame Local Government by the Nigerian Air Force.

The PUNCH: The federal government, last night, described allegations by the Nigerien junta, Gen. Abdourahamane Tchiani, that there was a covert collusion between Nigeria and France to destabilise his country as an attempt to blackmail Nigeria over the principled stance of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) against the unconstitutional seizure of power in that country.

The Guardian: A former spokesman and Director-General of the Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Organisation, Dr Doyin Okupe, has described opponents of the proposed tax reform bills as enemies of the country, emphasising that the bills are designed to support the poor and drive national development. His views, however, differed from those of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who declared, “If the situation persists, they will see our true colours, and we are going to fight for it.”
