As s the crisis between states and electricity distribution companies continues to degenerate over who has the power to fix electricity tariffs, the Federal Government, through the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, has summoned all the stakeholders to a meeting scheduled for next week.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and opposition political parties, yesterday, disagreed over alleged irregularities in the ongoing voters pre-registration exercise and figures coming out. According to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Labour Party, LP, and former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the new voters pre-registration figure showing massive listings in the South-West and specifically, Osun State, compared to other parts of the country, is worrisome and portends danger for the 2027 polls.

Attempts to foster a safer and more enjoyable domestic football environment in the country have been largely unsuccessful due to factors including the win-at-all-cost syndrome, poor officiating, and fans’ despicable attitude, all of which have damaged the reputation and image of the league, making it unattractive to sponsors, broadcasters, and potential new fans.

To forestall strike by university teachers, the Federal Government yesterday acceded to the call for the review of the 2009 agreement by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). Although government insisted that it did not sign any pact with the protesting lecturers, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, said concerted efforts would be made to avert industrial dispute and disruption of academic activities in the universities.

The Solicitor-General looked into the agreement. The government has never signed any agreement with ASUU. This was a draft agreement. The 2021 agreement was not executed by the government. So I need to be honest and truthful to Nigerians. ASUU might have an impression that they have an agreement with the government. There was no signed agreement with the government. – FG
