The 11th edition of the Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Award (NHEA) was held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos, recognizing outstanding individuals and institutions advancing excellence in Nigeria’s healthcare ecosystem.
The ceremony, attended by high-profile dignitaries, including the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, and the Governor of Katsina State, Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda, who was honoured with a Special Recognition Award for his transformative health initiatives, showcased a diverse range of healthcare delivery and innovation sectors.
The award winners included Sterling Bank Plc, which emerged as the Outstanding Healthcare Financial Institution of the Year, while Katsina State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KTSCHMA) and Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) won the State Government Health Insurance of the Year award.
Other notable winners included University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) as Public Tertiary Healthcare Facility of the Year, Duchess International Hospital as Private Tertiary Healthcare Facility of the Year, Ikorodu General Hospital as Public Secondary Healthcare Facility of the Year, and R-Jolad Hospital as Private Secondary Healthcare Facility of the Year.
Dr. Iziaq Salako, Minister of State for Health, said, “Tonight, we witnessed proof that our health sector is rich with talent, innovation, and resilience. These winners are the foundation of a stronger health system.”
Dr. Anthony Omolola, Chairman of the NHEA Advisory Board, added, “We are not just handing out awards—we are reinforcing a culture of quality, competitiveness, and commitment to saving lives.”
A jubilant winner, Dr. Otueguonor Ogumor of R-Jolad Hospital, said, “This recognition validates the effort our team puts in daily. It pushes us to reach for higher standards in care and service delivery.”
The ceremony concluded with calls for stronger collaboration across sectors and renewed commitments from sponsors and policymakers to sustain excellence in Nigerian healthcare. The NHEA 2025 attracted over 25,000 public nominations and thousands of votes, highlighting the growing public trust and stakeholders’ engagement.
