Victor Osimhen has taken another giant step towards immortality at Galatasaray after scoring twice in a 4-1 win over Sivasspor, lifting his season tally to an astonishing 33 goals, Footynaija.com reports.

The Nigerian striker, who joined the Turkish giants earlier this season, has now set a new personal best for goals in a single campaign — surpassing the 31 he managed in 39 appearances for Napoli during the 2022–23 season.

Osimhen, 26, is now just one goal away from equalling the club’s all-time single-season record held by Brazilian legend Mario Jardel, who scored 34 times in the 2000–01 campaign.

The Super Eagles forward struck in the 15th and 31st minutes to help Galatasaray cruise past Sivasspor and stay firmly in the hunt for the Süper Lig title. His double also lifted him above Mauro Icardi and Bafétimbi Gomis in the club’s single-season scoring chart — both previously tied on 32.

Since arriving at Rams Park, Osimhen’s electric pace, physicality, and ruthless finishing have made him a nightmare for Turkish defenders and a beloved figure among Galatasaray supporters.

He is now just two goals shy of becoming the club’s all-time top-scoring foreign player in a single season — a record that would also see him set a new benchmark in Turkish top-flight history.

Osimhen’s performances have drawn widespread acclaim, with pundits hailing him as one of the club’s most impactful signings in recent years.

With only a handful of games remaining, the stage is set for Osimhen to carve his name into Galatasaray folklore and write a new chapter in the history of African strikers in European football.
