In a bid to adequately represent voices of startup founders and innovators from across the country, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), through the Startup Consultative Forum (SCF) has elected four zonal representatives to serve on the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship (NCDIE).
The NCDIE was established to facilitate the growth, sustainability, and competitiveness of Nigeria’s startup agenda.
The election consists of representatives from the startup community alongside government agencies, regulators, investors, academia and other stakeholders. They will ensure that grassroot innovators, digital entrepreneurs and technology leaders play an active role in shaping policies and strategies that directly impact the growth of the Nigerian startup community.
The election process was coordinated by NITDA, in compliance with the Nigerian Startup Act (NSA), which NCDIE implements.
The election is a significant step in executing the NSA, as it allows startup founders to directly participate in key policy decisions that affect Nigeria’s innovation community. This is expected to enhance trust between the government and the digital innovation community, improve the feedback process, and foster a more enabling environment for young entrepreneurs to thrive.
As the Council commences its work, representatives contributions is expected to play a crucial role in shaping Nigeria’s startup ecosystem, promoting inclusivity, and ensuring that innovation yields tangible economic and social impact across the Nigeria.
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) reaffirmed its commitment to building a thriving digital economy, nurturing startups, and fostering the type of collaboration that ensures innovation becomes a cornerstone of national development.
