MD/CEO, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Mr. Bola Oyebamiji said it distributed life jacket amid enhancing safety for inland waterway users.
Oyebamiji in a tweet on X said it was an honour to participate in the continuation of the ”Marine Safety Sensitization and Life Jacket Distribution” initiative in Lagos State, an important effort aimed at enhancing safety for inland waterway users across the country, which was initially commenced in Minna, Niger State.
According to his tweet, he stated that the occasion was graced by Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola, the supervising Minister of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, who was ably represented by Dr Mercy Ilori, Director of Maritime Services at the Ministry.
He added that the event was hosted by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi on behalf of the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Governor Jide Sanwoolu.
“This initiative, coordinated by the NIWA under the strategic guidance of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, represents a critical milestone in our collective efforts to promote safety, security, and public awareness across Nigeria’s inland waterways.
