“Nnamdi Kanu’s detention won’t stop us” – MASSOB announces new strategy to Biafra agitation

Nnamdi Kanu in Court 1 1

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) says it will change its approach to the Biafra agitation over the continued detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Uchenna Madu, leader of MASSOB, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Owerri.

Madu said the new strategy is aimed at galvanising international attention and support for the actualisation of Biafra.

“The leadership of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) have declared that the self-determination struggle for Biafra actualization and restoration will intensify our combined push for international recognition and sympathy,” the statement reads.

Madu said the decision followed consultations with pro-Biafra leaders at home and in the diaspora.

“After series of high-level meetings with pro-Biafra leaders both at home and in diaspora, the non-violence self-determination struggle for independence of Biafra State will experience more international interventions towards our independence from Nigeria State,” he said.

He said MASSOB would also pursue political participation as part of its strategy.

His words: “We shall engage in political participation as Biafra political emancipation determines our political involvements and participation. We have the grassroots base and block political formations.

“The Nigeria State thought that their mesmerization of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will collapse our legitimate right or dampen our spirit to Biafra self-determination activism.

“On behalf of the people of Biafra, MASSOB is bold to announce and declare that the spirit of Biafranism is undieable and undeniable. God, History and Humanity are on our side, Biafra revolution is indestructible,” he added.

Madu said MASSOB and other pro-Biafra groups have repeatedly called for Kanu’s release.

“MASSOB and other pro-Biafra organizations and concerned individuals and groups have demanded enough for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from his unjust and unconstitutional detention but the Nigeria State have refused to harken to both international and local voices of reasoning,” he said.

He warned that continued detention could fuel further agitation.

“The world should know that the Nigeria State in their own systematic denial of justice to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and delay of Biafra referendum have unknowingly produced more thousands of Mazi Nnamdi Kanus that will soon display their activities,” Madu concluded.
