NNPC Consoles Victims Of Tanker Explosion In Niger State

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has described the Dikko junction tanker explosion incident as tragic.

Naijaonpoint reported that about 90 persons, who were scooping fuel from a fallen petrol tanker on Saturday, died as a result of the tanker’s explosion.

In a statement by NNPCL’s Chief Communication Officer, Olufemi Soneye, the national oil company prayed for eternal rest for the dead.

The Executive Vice President, Downstream, Isiyaku Abdullahi, who led a delegation to visit some of the victims of the tanker explosion at General Hospital in Sabon Wuse, Niger State, called for caution from citizens.

“This devastating incident claimed the lives of several individuals who were attempting to scoop fuel from a fallen tanker, while many others sustained varying degrees of injuries,” he said.

Abdullahi offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the departed souls and wished the injured a swift and full recovery.

According to him “the public must exercise extreme caution and avoid approaching fallen petrol tankers to prevent such heartbreaking tragedies in the future.”

He reaffirmed the commitment of NNPC to stand with Nigerians in times of crisis. He pledged the support of the national oil company to the victims.

“NNPC Ltd. remains committed to the safety and well-being of all Nigerians and will continue to advocate for greater awareness of the dangers associated with fuel-related accidents,” he added.
