NNPC Increases Price Of Petrol To ₦835 Per Litre

The pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, has increased to ₦835 per litre in Lagos and ₦839 per litre in Abuja, following a fresh adjustment by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.

This development was observed on Wednesday by The Cable across several NNPC retail stations in both cities, signalling another round of fuel price hikes likely to impact consumers nationwide.

The adjustment comes days after the Dangote Petroleum Refinery announced a review in the gantry price of petrol from ₦699 to ₦799 per litre, citing the end of special price support implemented during the festive period.

According to the refinery, the price increase reflects a return to “normal market conditions” after the holiday season.

“The earlier price cut was temporary and aimed at helping Nigerians cope with high spending during the celebrations,” the company said.

The latest hike now pegs the retail price at MRS filling stations, which distribute Dangote products, at around ₦839 per litre, similar to the NNPC’s adjusted rates.

The hike is expected to spark fresh concerns over the rising cost of living, transportation fares, and inflationary pressures already affecting millions of Nigerians.

This marks the second time Dangote Refinery has implemented a price moderation during festive periods, according to the company, describing it as a gesture to ease the burden on the public.
