WATCH THE VIDEO HERE The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has launched a strategic Production Monitoring Command Centre (PMCC), an engineering marvel designed to revolutionise hydrocarbon operations. Spearheaded by the NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), the PMCC builds on the success of the Command and Control Centre, enhancing monitoring, operational efficiency, and production within the oil and gas sector. This innovation is aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s policy of improving efficiency and driving production growth within the industry. Serving as a unified platform, the PMCC provides comprehensive monitoring of hydrocarbon molecules from production to export terminals, encompassing Joint Ventures (JVs) and Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs). By consolidating real-time data from various operators, the PMCC offers an all-encompassing view of production activities. This enables timely detection of anomalies, minimizing unplanned disruptions, and ensuring smooth, continuous operations. Equipped with advanced analytics and integrated data, the PMCC empowers stakeholders with actionable insights, facilitating proactive decision-making. This feature strengthens planning, resource allocation, and risk management, allowing operators to meet production targets while maintaining high operational standards. A key highlight of the PMCC is its focus on predictive and preventive maintenance. By continuously monitoring equipment performance and coordinating maintenance activities, the system ensures optimal asset reliability and longevity. Furthermore, the PMCC fosters collaboration among stakeholders, offering a secure platform for data sharing and communication, which encourages effective problem-solving and continuous improvement throughout the sector. The PMCC’s role in minimising downtime and optimising maintenance is directly linked to higher production levels and increased revenue. Under the leadership of Mele Kyari, NNPC Ltd has successfully raised its production to 1.8 million barrels per day (bpd), with an ambitious target of reaching 2 million bpd. The PMCC is pivotal in achieving this milestone by driving operational efficiency and enhancing production capabilities. Operating 24/7 with a team of trained professionals, the PMCC utilizes cloud-based solutions to ensure seamless data exchange with both internal and external stakeholders. In addition, the Centre’s direct communication links to the Industry-Wide Security Command and Control Centre bolster the security of production operations, further ensuring the integrity of the sector.
