The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced the full restoration of the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System in Warri, Delta State, following the explosion that occurred on the facility earlier in December.
The company said the pipeline has been fully repaired, tested and returned to operation, assuring Nigerians of its continued commitment to energy security and environmental safety.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Limited, Andy Odeh, disclosed that the asset is now operational after the damaged section was successfully fixed.
He said, “NNPC Limited is pleased to announce the successful restoration of the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System in Warri, Delta State.”
Odeh explained that the company moved swiftly to contain the situation after the explosion, which occurred on December 10, 2025.
According to him, “Following the unexpected explosion on December 10, 2025, we immediately activated our emergency response, deployed coordinated containment measures, and worked tirelessly with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the damaged section was repaired, pressure-tested, and safely recommissioned.”
He added that the successful repair underscores the company’s ability to respond effectively to emergencies affecting critical national infrastructure.
The NNPC spokesperson noted that the speedy restoration was made possible through collaboration with host communities, regulators, security agencies and other stakeholders.
“Today, the pipeline is fully operational, reaffirming our resilience and commitment to energy security. This achievement was made possible through the unwavering support of our host communities, the guidance of regulators, the vigilance of security agencies, and the dedication of our partners and staff,” Odeh said.
Odeh further stressed that safety and environmental protection were prioritised throughout the repair process.
He said, “Together, we turned a challenging moment into a success story, restoring operations in record time while upholding the highest standards of safety and environmental stewardship.”
Reaffirming the company’s future plans, Odeh said NNPC Limited would continue to protect its facilities and surrounding communities.
