WATCH THE VIDEO HERE The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has confirmed the temporary shutdown of the Port Harcourt Refining Company for scheduled maintenance and sustainability assessment. The month-long exercise will commence on Saturday, May 24, 2025, according to a statement issued by NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye. He stated that the company is collaborating with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority and other stakeholders to ensure the process is transparent and efficient. Soneye clarified that the shutdown is a planned safety measure aimed at maintaining safe and sustainable operations, refuting claims of sabotage made by some indigenous fuel retailers in Eleme, where the refinery is located. He assured the public of an adequate supply of diesel, kerosene, and other petroleum products throughout the maintenance period.
