The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has appointed Andy Odeh and Morenike Adewunmi to head its corporate communications and stakeholder relations divisions respectively.
In a statement on Tuesday, the company announced that Odeh will serve as Chief Corporate Communications Officer, while Adewunmi takes the role of Chief Relations Officer.
Describing the duo as “seasoned executives,” NNPCL said the appointments reflect its commitment to strengthening stakeholder engagement and public communication across its operations.
Odeh, a communications veteran with more than 30 years of experience in oil and gas, advertising, and broadcasting, previously spent 26 years at Nigeria LNG Limited. There, he held leadership roles in corporate communications, public affairs, logistics, IT, community relations, and regulatory compliance.
“At NLNG, he successfully managed the company’s rebranding and implemented one of Nigeria’s best-run micro-credit schemes for host communities,” NNPCL said.
He was also credited with helping establish the NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting. An alumnus of the University of Jos, University of Lagos, INSEAD Business School, and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Odeh brings extensive cross-sectoral expertise to his new role.
Adewunmi, a legal practitioner with over 25 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, joins NNPCL from the Shell Companies in Nigeria. She previously served as Regulatory Affairs Manager and later as Government Relations Manager.
“Mrs. Adewunmi is known for her strong leadership skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to build robust stakeholder networks,” the company said. “She is a subject matter expert on non-technical risks.”
She holds a law degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University and was called to the Nigerian Bar after completing her training at the Nigerian Law School.
NNPCL noted that the appointments are both strategic and timely as the company seeks to deepen public trust and enhance engagement with host communities, regulators, and global partners.
“The appointment of Mr Odeh and Mrs Adewunmi reflects NNPC Limited’s commitment to enhancing communication and engagement with stakeholders,” the statement added.
Their appointment follows the June 21, 2025 resignation of Olufemi Soneye as Chief Corporate Communications Officer.
