WATCH THE VIDEO HERE THE Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Mele Kyari, stated that the company’s personnel are not involved in the importation of substandard petroleum products into Nigeria. He made these remarks today in Abuja while testifying before an Ad-hoc Committee led by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele regarding allegations of economic sabotage within the petroleum sector. Kyari expressed that, as the GCEO, he has been subjected to unwarranted media scrutiny from individuals attempting to portray NNPCL as a threat to the nation’s economy. He emphasized that the company is “faithful and will not lie” to the country, asserting, “We are not criminals and we are not thieves. We will uphold our dignity to serve this nation.” Additionally, he noted that the oil and gas industry is in a precarious state, mentioning that there are matters he is aware of but cannot disclose publicly for now. He also requested that future committee sessions be broadcast live so that all Nigerians can observe the proceedings.
