Boosie BadAzz has avoided prison time following a federal gun charge, according to reports. On Friday, the Louisiana rapper appeared in a California federal courtroom after previously pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Prosecutors had pushed for a 24-month prison sentence followed by three years of supervised release. Instead, the judge sentenced Boosie, born Torence Hatch, to time served, three years of supervised release, and a $50,000 fine, legal affairs reporter Meghann Cuniff reported.

Ahead of the hearing, Boosie shared videos on social media showing himself preparing to head into court. Wearing a bright blue suit and a luxury Audemars Piguet watch, the rapper appeared confident as he documented the moment.

“Let’s Get It!” he wrote in the caption.

The case stemmed from a 2023 traffic stop in San Diego. Police said they discovered multiple firearms in Boosie’s vehicle after spotting a gun in his waistband during an Instagram Live video. Local authorities later dropped the charges, but federal prosecutors took over the case.

Although a federal judge dismissed the charges last July, prosecutors refiled them soon after. Boosie accepted a plea deal in August and has been awaiting sentencing ever since.
