The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has declared that there will be no votes for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State in 2027.

According to him, there will be no political parties during the coming general election other than the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He made the declaration during an empowerment programme at his Ikot Ekpene base on Friday.

Akpabio, who represents the Akwa Ibom North West district in the Senate, said in 2027, Akwa Ibom votes will be for President Bola Tinubu, the state governor, Umo Eno and himself.

“There will be no political party in the state come the 2027 general election,” he said.

According to him, the PDP’s umbrella has been torn into shreds and can no longer protect the people.

Akpabio said, “As I speak with you, there is nothing like a political party in 2027 in Akwa Ibom State again. For the Senate of Ikot-Ekpene senatorial district, all political parties have collapsed to vote for Senator Godswill Akpabio.

“For the office of the governor in 2027, all political parties have agreed to vote for Governor Umo Eno.

“Akwa Ibom has moved to vote for President Bola Tinubu, Eno for governor of Akwa Ibom State, and Senator Akpabio for Senate.

“The People’s Democratic Party is in shreds and the umbrella can no longer protect.”

The Senate President described Governor Eno as a man of peace and one who professes God in his heart, stressing that there are people who profess God with their lips and not their hearts.

“Umo Eno is a man of peace. Umo Eno is a man of God. I am not talking about those who professed God with their lips. I am talking of those who practise God in their heart. Umo Eno has brought all of us together,” Akpabio said.

About 1,690 persons were said to have benefitted from the empowerment outreach.

Thirty minibuses, 67 passenger tricycles, 50 cassava processing machines, 347 deep freezers, 247 generating sets, truckloads of 50 kg bags of rice, cash grants, among other items, were said to have been distributed at the event.
