The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has commenced talks with WEMA Bank to collaborate on the National Identity Project, a government-approved campaign aimed at strengthening national values and promoting attitudinal change among Nigerians.

During a strategic meeting held in Abuja, NOA Director General, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, outlined the agency’s renewed focus on value reorientation, driven by the newly introduced 7-for-7 National Values Charter. He explained that the charter balances civic responsibilities and governmental accountability, with seven promises from the government and seven duties expected from citizens.

Issa-Onilu stressed the importance of youth inclusion in national development, noting that 76% of Nigeria’s population comprises young people. He announced the return of the 7-for-7 Campus Debate initiative, which successfully debuted last year, as a platform to engage youths in national discourse and civic values.

The NOA boss also emphasized the vital role of corporate organisations in fostering peace and unity. “Without a peaceful environment, no business or institution can operate effectively,” he said, urging the private sector to support value-driven national initiatives.

Representing WEMA Bank, Mr. Chioma Onuaguluchi and Mr. Timileyin reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to youth empowerment and civic development. They stated that the initiative aligns with the vision of WEMA Bank CEO, Mr. Moruf Oseni, who prioritises social responsibility and nation-building.

The partnership between NOA and WEMA Bank is expected to bolster national cohesion, promote responsible citizenship, and foster a shared sense of purpose among Nigerians.

Both parties expressed optimism that the collaboration would not only support social change but also contribute to a more stable environment for economic growth and corporate sustainability.
