The award-winning filmmaker, while speaking at the Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MIPAN) 2025, said nobody made her a star only God. The movie star recalled how the idea of Jenifa’s brand came to her and how she started writing scripts for her movies. She recounted how someone in the industry told her to keep milking Jenifa’s brand and also gave her money to finance her projects. Funke also spoke about the shifts in audience behavior and staying relevant in Nigeria’s content marketing space. During singer Dbanj’s anniversary dinner in June of last year, Funke recounted how God used him to speak to her to keep her popular Jenifa brand. The award-winning actress revealed that the singer was the one who encouraged her to keep the Jenifa brand on fire and had supported her financially to carry out her next project. Last year, Funke had opened up on the hard times she experienced before rising to stardom. She shared a video of herself being active on the set of her highest-grossing billion-dollar movie, A Trībe Called Judah, as she counted herself as a testimony of believing in herself, saying she faced different challenges but learned to stand tall and encourage others because of them. Funke is currently the Queen of the box office as her latest Cinema movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa became the highest-grossing film of all time in West Africa with 1.6 billion. The filmmaker undoubtedly beat her previous record for A Tr!be Called Judah, which grossed over N1.4 billion.
