North-East Governors Sympathize With Jigawa Governor Over Loss Of Mother, Son

The North-East Governors Forum has extended its heartfelt sympathies to Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, following the tragic loss of his mother, Maryam Namadi, and his eldest son, Abdulwahab Namadi.

Naijaonpoint reports that Namadi lost his eldest son in an auto crash on Thursday, barely 24 hours after losing his mother.

In a message issued by the forum’s Chairman and Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, the double loss, occurring within a 24-hour span, was described as profoundly sorrowful but accepted as part of Allah’s divine will.

The statement, delivered by Zulum’s spokesperson, Dauda Illiya, on Friday, expressed collective grief on behalf of the people of Borno State and the North-East region.

“On behalf of the people of Borno State and the entire North-East region, I wish to extend my deepest condolences to Your Excellency and the people of Jigawa State over the tragic loss of your beloved mother and son,” Zulum’s statement read.

Recognizing the magnitude of the tragedy, Zulum urged Governor Namadi and his family to remain steadfast in faith. “As Muslims, we believe that everything that happens, whether positive or otherwise, is destined by the Almighty,” he said.

He also prayed for the family and the people of Jigawa State to find strength during this challenging time and to endure the irreparable loss with patience and fortitude.

Maryam Namadi passed away early Wednesday morning while Governor Namadi was on an official visit to China, working to strengthen economic partnerships and attract investments for his state.

The governor’s son, Abdulwahab, tragically lost his life in a car accident on Thursday. The incident occurred while he was driving with friends from Kafin Hausa to Dutse, the state capital.

Their vehicle reportedly lost control and overturned. Some of Abdulwahab’s friends survived the accident and are currently receiving treatment at the Dutse General Hospital.
