A notorious bandit kingpin, Kachalla Abdurrahman Jankare, has been killed by a rival during an internal dispute in Tsaskiya village, Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Naijaonpoint learnt that security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, disclosed that Jankare was shot dead on Thursday by a fellow bandit identified as Nazanku, an ally of another notorious bandit leader, Dan Ori.
Makama said the confrontation arose from a feud over a seized rifle and a bag containing magazines belonging to Nazanku.
The security analyst said, “Last week, Jankare seized Nazanku’s rifle, and just yesterday, he also took a bag in which he kept magazines. This provoked Nazanku, who confronted him and shot him dead.”
Only seven people reportedly attended Jankare’s funeral before he was buried later the same day.
Until his death, Kachalla Jankare was regarded as one of the most feared lieutenants of the late Kachalla Usman Modi Modi, and was linked to numerous attacks and kidnappings in Dutsinma, Safana, and Kurfi LGAs of Katsina State.
His killing has reportedly triggered renewed tension among rival bandit factions operating within the north-west forest axis.
In related news, a notorious bandit leader, Isya Akwashi Garwa, has reportedly released 28 abducted persons in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State following a peace arrangement with local authorities.
Garwa, armed with an AK-47 rifle and ammunition, handed over the victims to officials of the local council on Wednesday.
Naijaonpoint understands that those freed were mostly residents of Mairua, Kanen-haki, and Yar Dabaru communities, who had been held captive for weeks.
Zagazola Makama confirmed the development on 𝕏, saying community leaders in Faskari described the release as a positive signal, and urged both sides to sustain the peace process.
Local authorities confirmed that the release was the outcome of ongoing reconciliation efforts aimed at restoring peace and reducing violent attacks in the region.
