A notorious bandit leader, identified as Isiya Kwashen Garwa, has released 37 abducted persons held in captivity in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to Zagazola Makama, the victims, mostly men and women seized during recent attacks on rural communities, were freed on Wednesday after several days in captivity.
A community source said the release came amid growing concern over the rising wave of kidnappings across the Bakori–Funtua axis.
He expressed relief over the development and prayed for the safe return of other victims still being held.
“May Allah rescue our remaining brothers and sisters in the hands of these criminals and bring an end to their reign and those sponsoring them,” the source said.

Meanwhile, the Niger State Police Command have commenced the documentation of students and teachers kidnapped at Papiri town of Agwara local government of Niger state last week.
On Friday, the police invited parents of the affected students and teachers to appear before its officers to give details of those missing.
According to ThisDay, the action of the Police followed lack of credible statistics on the number of children kidnapped, those that have returned and reunited with their parents.
Reports had claimed 259 students as well as 13 teachers were kidnapped by terrorists while 66 escaped from their den in unknown circumstances.
Speaking in an interview, Police Public Relations Officer, Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said, “We invited the parents to come and give us information about the children, including those that have reunited with their parents”.
He, however, did not say how many names have been put on the register now opened.
