Notorious kidnapper who abducted 100-year-old man arrested in Taraba

A notorious kidnapper has been arrested over his connection with the abduction of 100-year-old Joshua Magani Ubandoma from his residence.

The police confirmed that the suspect was arrested through a combined effort of officers of the Ibi Police Division and youths of the Sabon Pegi area of the council.

The spokesperson for the command, James Lashen Saminu in a statement on Wednesday said the suspect carried out the criminal act at about 9.40 am on August 6.

According to Saminu, the suspect operated alongside two others who invaded Ubandoma’s residence and abducted him at gunpoint.

The police also stated that the incident was reported to the division by one Hillary Habila Ubandoma, who is supposed relative of the victim.

“Acting immediately, police operatives visited the scene and traced the kidnappers’ motorcycle tyre marks into the surrounding forest.

“After days of intensive search and intelligence gathering, one suspect identified as Kingsley Alose, 37, a resident of Sabon Pegi, was apprehended on September 2, 2025,” Saminu said in the statement.

He also noted that the matter is currently under investigation as efforts are underway to ensure the arrest of the suspect’s accomplice.

“The Taraba State Police Command remains resolute in its mission to prevent crime and ensure the safety and security of all residents,” Saminu added.
