NPFL: Lobi Stars Dismisses Report On Daniel Amokachi’s Resignation

Lobi Stars have refuted claims regarding the resignation of their technical adviser, Daniel Amokachi, from his role at the club.

Reports had circulated the internet earlier suggesting that Amokachi departed from his position on Sunday night after the team’s 0-0 home draw with Heartland.

However, in a statement issued hours later, the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club urged its fans and stakeholders to dismiss the viral reports on Amokachi’s resignation.

“Lobi Stars Football Club has been made aware of baseless rumours claiming that our technical adviser, Daniel Amokachi, has resigned following the team’s goalless draw against Heartland FC in Lafia,” the Makurdi club said in a statement.

“We unequivocally deny this false information and urge our fans and stakeholders to disregard it. Coach Amokachi remains fully committed to the team and is well aware of the unique challenges of the Nigerian league.”

It is worth noting that Lobi Stars are striving to avoid relegation this season. Currently, the Pride of Benue holds the 17th position in the standings.

Meanwhile, NPFL has summoned both Nasarawa United and Rivers United to participate in a formal inquest following a series of troubling incidents that took place during their matchday 18 fixture at the Lafia City Stadium last Sunday.

During this highly anticipated and fiercely contested NPFL match, which ultimately ended in a 1-1 draw, officials from Rivers United reportedly faced physical attacks from unidentified individuals.

This alarming situation has prompted the NPFL to initiate an inquest to investigate the events that transpired thoroughly, establish the facts surrounding the incidents, identify the root causes, and determine appropriate actions to address the matter.

In preparation for the inquest, both clubs are required to compile and submit comprehensive reports detailing the incidents that occurred on matchday.

These reports must include an overview of the actions taken by club officials in response to the occurrences, an account of the security arrangements that were in place, and any additional relevant information. The deadline for submitting these detailed reports is set for January 5, 2025.

Furthermore, representatives from both clubs are mandated to appear in person at the inquest to provide testimony and additional context regarding the events.
