The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has officially unveiled the Prostar match ball as the exclusive ball to be used in the second round of the 2024-2025 season.

This announcement was communicated through a detailed circular issued by the NPFL’s Chief Executive Officer, Davidson Owumi, sent to all club chairmen and general managers within the league.

This move marks an important development in the NPFL’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the standards of excellence and professionalism within Nigerian football.

Previously, the league had relied on imported match balls for its games. However, this partnership with the domestic brand Prostar signifies a shift towards promoting local products while ensuring the quality of play meets international standards.

The Prostar match ball is designed to meet FIFA’s regulated international match standards, ensuring it is suitable for high-level competitions.

It is constructed from diamond-pattern soft-touch thermal bonded PU leather, which enhances player control. Additionally, the ball features a micro-shell coated butyl bladder, which contributes to its durability and performance, and it consists of 32 aerodynamic panels that facilitate superior precision for better ball flight and movement on the pitch.

Weighing between 400 and 430 grams, the Prostar match ball has a bounce range of 1.1 to 1.4 meters, making it suitable for competitive play.

It is also classified as an official size 5 ball, the standard size used in professional football globally. The league anticipates that this ball will enhance the playing experience for both the athletes and the fans, offering a world-class experience during matches.

In the statement issued by the NPFL, club managements were reminded that only the official Prostar balls are to be used in all NPFL games going forward into the second round of the season. This directive aims to standardize the match experience across all fixtures and uphold the integrity of the league.

The second round of the current season is slated to resume on January 25, after a competitive first half of the season.

Currently, Remo Stars lead the NPFL standings with an impressive 36 points accumulated after 19 matches. Hot on their heels are Rivers United, just two points behind with 34, followed closely by 3SC, who have gathered 33 points.
