NPFL Updates: Eguma Urges Enyimba To Remain Focused, Nasarawa Coach Disappointed, Others

Enyimba’s head coach, Stanley Eguma, has highlighted the importance of continued effort from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club, despite their recent successes in back-to-back matches.

The People’s Elephant achieved a 2-1 victory over Nasarawa United in a rescheduled NPFL match held in Aba on Wednesday, marking their second consecutive win in all competitions. Goals from Joseph Atule and substitute Brown Ideye contributed to this encouraging performance.

Eguma praised the dedication of his players while reassuring fans that the team’s rebuilding phase is progressing well. He stated, “Since we began, we have been focused on rebuilding, and while we are pleased with our recent results, we recognize that there is still work ahead. I appreciate the management’s support during this process.”

On the other hand, Nasarawa United’s technical director, Kabiru Dogo, expressed disappointment in the aftermath of the NPFL match. His team, having lost the rescheduled matchday 17 fixture 2-1, remains at the bottom of the table with 19 points.

Dogo acknowledged that his players had multiple opportunities to secure a different outcome, stating, “We are disheartened by the loss. We created several chances to win but were unable to convert them.”

Meanwhile, Bendel Insurance head coach Greg Ikhenoba has welcomed the players back from their holiday with a focus on fostering a positive environment.

He encouraged the team to maintain this positive attitude and emphasized the importance of seamlessly integrating both new and returning players as they prepare for the upcoming league matches, starting with a showdown against Enyimba later this month.

As the league resumes on January 25, Ikhenoba said, “I am excited to have my players back and ready to work. They understand the challenges that lie ahead and our collective goals. We are eager to approach the remainder of the season with dedication and a willingness to make sacrifices for future rewards.”

Ikhenoba also noted the management’s commitment to strengthening the team for greater competitiveness: “We are in the process of fortifying our squad to ensure we can compete effectively.
