The Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has intercepted another truck allegedly loaded with over 200 pipes belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC).

Naijaonpoint reports that the arrest comes barely three weeks after a similar incident in which another truck was seized with more than 300 NNPC pipes in the state.

While briefing journalists in Yola on Monday, the State Commandant, Idris Bande, said the operation followed an intelligence tip-off from vigilant villagers who sighted the truck and alerted the command.

“The villagers where the pipes were loaded took a picture of the truck and plate number and sent it to the command for action,” Bande said.

According to him, officers were immediately deployed along the Jalingo-Yola road, where the truck was successfully intercepted.

“The driver of the truck removed something from the vehicle so that the truck cannot move. We contacted the owner of the truck, and he promised to come, but he did not. After six days of waiting with my officers guarding the truck, we decided to tow it to the headquarters here in Yola,” he explained.

Bande said the intercepted truck contained over 200 iron pipes suspected to belong to the NNPC. He revealed that the command had invited the Adamawa NNPC Depot Manager, who confirmed that the items were indeed property of the corporation.

“Investigation has been concluded, and the suspects will soon be charged to court,” he added.

The commandant issued a stern warning to vandals and those engaged in theft of government property to desist or face severe consequences.

“We are determined to go after anyone vandalising or stealing government property. Such acts are acts of economic sabotage, and offenders will face the full wrath of the law,” he warned.

One of the suspects, identified as Adamu Ahmed, the truck driver, told journalists that he was transporting the NNPC pipes to Gombe for sale.
He also made a startling revelation, claiming that soldiers and NSCDC officials escorted him to the village where the pipes were loaded.

“I was heading to Gombe with the pipes to sell them,” the driver confessed.

This latest interception follows an earlier operation by the Adamawa NSCDC on September 30, 2025, when five suspects were arrested for allegedly stealing 204 units of 8” by 10F-long iron pipes also belonging to the NNPC.

The suspects in that case were intercepted along the Jalingo–Numan road, having concealed the pipes with chaff to disguise them as farm produce.

The NSCDC command in Adamawa reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, especially those belonging to the NNPC.

Bande said the corps would continue to work with local communities to gather intelligence and prevent future incidents of vandalism and theft.

“The cooperation between the public and security agencies is crucial. This latest arrest was successful because of community vigilance,” he stated.

He urged citizens to remain alert and report suspicious activities around government installations to the nearest security post.
