The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has redeployed the Divisional Officer in charge of Fagge Division following the death of a suspect while in custody.

The redeployment was approved by the State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, who ordered the removal of SC Amina Musa Kolawole from her position as divisional officer.

In her place, the command has deployed CSC Bashir Isa Abubakar as the new Divisional Officer for Fagge Division.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi.

According to the statement, the decision followed the constitution of a panel of inquiry to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of the suspect.

The command said the panel was mandated to unravel the facts and determine the level of responsibility of officers involved in the incident.

“All officers and men on duty on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, including the divisional officer in question, have been transferred to the Nigerian Police, Kano State Command, for further investigation and necessary actions,” the statement read.

The NSCDC appealed to members of the public to remain calm as investigations continue, assuring that the corps would not shield any officer found culpable.

The command reiterated its commitment to the protection of the sanctity of life, respect for human rights, and the upholding of professionalism, integrity and the rule of law in the discharge of its constitutional duties.

It added that appropriate actions would be taken in line with the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
