NYSC Sanctions 16 Corps Members In Gombe, Remobilizes 21 Others Over Infractions

At least 16 corps members would be subjected to disciplinary measures, while 21 others are set to be remobilized due to various infractions in Gombe State.

The Gombe State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Chinwe Nwachukwu, disclosed this in his address, where he commended the 1,268 Batch A, Stream I corps members assigned to the state for successfully completing their service year on Thursday.

During her farewell address at the zonal office, which took place during a modest passing-out ceremony, Nwachukwu praised those passing out, acknowledging their contributions to nation-building through impactful initiatives in education, health, agriculture, and community development service projects will be remembered by future generations.

“1,268 batch A Stream I Corps members are passing out; those with disciplinary cases are 16 and 21 for remobilization,” She said.

While lauding the 1,268 corps members, Nwachuku added, “My dear compatriots of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream I service year, I heartily salute you for the successful completion of your sojourn in Gombe State for the one-year mandatory national service to the nation and humanity at large.

“I am filled with great joy and very proud of all you have accomplished during the service year. May all your sacrifices and selfless services to the socio-economic development of the nation, be rewarded and as you step out in grand style to greater heights, we return profound gratitude to Almighty God for granting you the courage to scale through it all.”

Nwachukwu encouraged the youths to apply the various skills they acquired during their service year in their future endeavours.

He added, “You have equally learnt valuable lessons about the culture, customs and traditions of the people of Gombe State. which I hope will bring about the desired rebirth, national integration and unity, Nigeria craves for.

“As you prepare to move on to the next level of your lives, I encourage you to take with you the training, skills, education, and knowledge you have acquired in different capacities during the service year and apply them to your future endeavours.

“Most importantly, embrace the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme, it will gainfully engage you and provide you with a sense of livelihood. Whether you decide to further your education, pursue a career, or start your own business, I am confident that you will make a difference in your respective fields.

“I also sincerely acknowledge the productive relationships you have established in the course of the service year amongst yourselves, members of your host communities and others. Keep the relationships safe and sustained. It will help to break down cultural barriers and foster understanding yielding positive growth and development. You have truly become ambassadors of the Scheme in unity, peace, and progress.”
