WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Naijaonpoint reported that the Lagos lawmakers impeached Obasa on Monday over allegations of fraud and abuse of office. The lawmakers later explained that Obasa was impeached to save the integrity and sanctity of the House of Assembly and Lagos State. In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, hours after the Speaker’s impeachment, Oki said President Tinubu tried to resolve the crisis in the state legislature, but Obasa was disobedient. According to the APC chieftain, Obasa’s impeachment was long overdue, adding it was in the best interests of the state. He said, “Before the president came home, this issue had been lingering. “In the wisdom of members of the Governor’s Advisory Council, GAC, the president’s attention was called. “The president, as father and leader, called a meeting wherein he tried to make a sense out of the observations raised by elders of the party. “Unfortunately, the president saw by himself a recalcitrant [Obasa]. I think that is what broke the camel’s back.”
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Fouad Oki, has claimed that after President Bola Tinubu saw the alleged unimaginable behaviour of Mudashiru Obasa, his impeachment as the speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly became inevitable.
